In my last post I showed you a makeover I did on a desk for my office / studio. Well I decided that my desk needed a lamp but I didn't really want to spend any money so I went "shopping" around the house and decided this little lamp would work . The makeover was quick, super easy & cheap (all the materials were left over from other projects...yay!!!)
The first thing I did was spray the base white ~ once it dried I took sand paper to the edges to get the chippy aged look
Next I took everything off of the lamp shade so that all I had was the wire form (sorry I got carried away and forgot to take a picture of this step... I know I'm such an amateur !!)
Using left over canvas drop cloth I cut strips that were about 1 inch to 1 1/2 wide and then tied each strip to the top of the wire form pulling it tight so it will hold
The next step was tying the ends of each strip to the bottom of the wire form but this time I tied a knot so that the strip would stay in place
keep going until you work your way around the wire form ~ you can fill it in as much or as little as you want
This is how my lamp looks now....

What an adorable shade!! Great idea! :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun making over lamps? Thanks for enjoying my lamp makeover too. I love the shade that you did. I'm always afraid to cover my own shade in fear I'll set the house on fire with the covering I make. Yours is so cute I think I may have to get over my fear and try one sometime!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer. I just replied to you via email, then realized you are no-reply. Anyway, I hope you find some shutters....If you lived anywhere near me I'd give you the other matching two I have...Let me know if you have any luck!
